I am a full-time mother of four children who built my portrait photography business with $300 and a credit card. I had no one to tell me how to do it right, so I learned many lessons the hard way. I only knew that I loved photographing children in black and white, and I wanted to run my business from home so I could be there for my own children. It took quite a while for me to figure out what I was doing, but before I knew it, I had a thriving business with a great reputation and a waiting list for my services.

My work has been featured on  "A Baby Story" on The Learning Channel and HBO Productions' "Photography Close-Up". I am a featured photographer in the book Professional Children's Portrait Photography: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers by Lou Jacobs, Jr. (Aug. 2007) and have an ongoing business column in the upcoming Children's Photography Today magazine. I am also the founder of the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association.

After receiving so many emails from aspiring professional photographers asking for advice, I decided to put everything I had learned together and teach a workshop. One workshop has turned into an entire collection of workshops, both online and in person.  It has been very fulfilling to help so many people start their own business, and its nice to know that not everyone has to start the way I did, by trial and error.
